In der 2009er ist es nicht mehr möglich über die renderengine ein Map als Hintergrund anzugeben > Thema physischer Himmel in Mental Ray.
Eine (in den meisten Fällen qualitativ sicher nicht ausreichende) Möglichkeit wären Abziehbilder. Hierbei wäre eine Wand in entsprechender Ausrichtung zum Gebäude zu platzieren, auf die der Hintergrund projiziert wird.
Auf Anfrage bei Autodesk habe ich folgende Info bekommen:
.........Using an image for a background when rendering is not possible. In order to place an image into a rendering the easiest way is to do it post render. Export the image to either a PNG file or a TIF file. This will save the background onto an alpha channel. Thyen you can add the background easily using a photo editor like Photoshop, GIMP, or Paint.net (the last 2 are free applications.)
You can also import the image back into Revit and the background will be stripped. The import you background image and composite them in Revit........

Für anspruchsvollste Ergebnisse in angemessenem Zeitrahmen führt derzeit kein Weg an Max oder Maya vorbei. Ist der Anspruch nicht ganz so hoch lohnt auf jeden Fall etwas Übung mit den Abziehbildern oder eben der klassische Weg über Revit > Photoshop > Revit o.ä..
